DAME Charity Donation 2024 now open for nominations

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – The METSTRADE Organisation invites you to actively contribute to a better world by nominating a worthy leisure marine cause for this year’s significant DAME Awards charitable donation.

Calling all leisure marine-related charities

The esteemed DAME Design Awards competition continues its tradition of generously donating the total registration fees to a leisure marine-related charity. We welcome all marine charity organisations to apply for the chance to become this year's DAME beneficiary. The selected beneficiary will not only receive a financial donation, but also gain significant exposure, thereby enhancing their impact within the marine community.
Certified leisure marine-related public charities should apply by 1 May 2024 to be considered for this year’s DAME donation. Applications must be made online at https://www.damedesignawards.com/charity.

Improving the industry’s social footprint

Known across the leisure marine industry for its prestigious reputation, the DAME Design Awards celebrates and recognises the dedication to excellent product design by marine equipment companies who are driving the industry forward.

Niels Klarenbeek, Director of METSTRADE, says: “Running the world’s largest leisure marine equipment exhibition provides us with significant opportunities to improve our social, environmental and economic impact within the industry. We want to play our part in improving the leisure marine sector’s social footprint by connecting people with the networks and funds they need to help address the big opportunities and challenges they face”.

Contributing to initiatives around the globe All DAME

Awards entry fees are donated to charities, with more than €250,000 contributed to good causes since 2008. Last year a cheque worth of €14,250 was presented to The Magenta Project, a passionate collective working towards greater equity and inclusion in sailing, with a focus on gender.

Chief Coordination & Engagement Officer, Meg Reilly, explains how the donation received at last year’s DAME Design Awards ceremony is being put to good use. “The Magenta Project is all volunteer based. The funds have enabled us to increase our human resources and helped to provide pay for women who have been supporting the project for many years. As a direct result we've been able to advance our mentoring programme, our volunteer base has grown and we’ve been able to expand with regional branches such as one in the Asia Pacific region.”

The selected charity will be announced mid-June. The entry window for the DAME Awards itself will run from July to mid-September and all companies who exhibit at METSTRADE 2024 are able to enter their new products for consideration by an international jury of renowned designers and end-user experts.

The donation will be presented to the selected charity during the DAME Design Awards ceremony which is held during the METSTRADE official opening of the show at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre on 19 November.
